Mythily is a love letter to south Indian cuisine, dedicated to Rasika’s grandmother Mythily Ramachandran, and the entire state of Tamil Nadu.
Mythily is a blend of heritage and tradition, along with the modern approach of the world. It represents exactly the kind of out-of-the-box Chef that Rasika is. She is unabashedly proud of where she is from, and is not afraid to test the limits of tradition.
Utilizing techniques she’s learnt from various restaurants she’s worked at, she aims to combine this with what Tamil cuisine means to her. Integrating the feeling of home into an elevated dining experience, and using what is locally available - This is how she aims to reinvent Tamil Cuisine.
The Journey - so far
Mythily was established in 2024 as an NYC pop-up concept.
Since the launch of Mythily, we’ve popped up at several restaurants in New York and across the country, collaborated with incredible chefs, and cooked for some amazing people - including Michelle Obama!
We’ve showcased South Indian cuisine in more traditional and casual formats like Saturday Saapadu, serving communal-style banana leaf meals; as well as through our signature tasting menus that blend age-old flavors with contemporary techniques, while highlighting seasonal produce and sustainable practices.
From cooking with fellow Top Chef contestants Amanda Turner, Dan Jacobs and Charly Pierre; to working with award-winning pop-ups like Hadeem; and bringing the Mythily experience to platforms like the Iconoclast Dinner at Martha’s Vineyard, Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, and Platform by the James Beard Foundation, we’ve been on a mission to reimagine and reintroduce South Indian food and flavor.
Mythily took over Laundromat, Fulgurances for 4 months as part of their Winter Residency 2024.
During this time, Chef Rasika offered 6 and 8 course tasting menus, which she changed every 2 weeks. For the first time, customers got a taste of what the Mythily restaurant experience could be like in a stationary brick-and-mortar space.
Mythily is currently looking for investment opportunities to open a full-service restaurant in New York!
